play-for-all-2 play-for-all-3 play-for-all

My second-year doctoral research project draws attention to play opportunities created in the physical environment for children with disabilities through literature and fieldwork related to inclusive play spaces. Online desk reviews of inclusive play spaces, and fieldwork with three organizations that create inclusive play spaces – twelve key informant interviews and nine site visits (six in-person and three virtual) – in India and the United States guided my research exploration. Findings reveal the simplicity of design interventions in the physical environment, yet at the same time acknowledges that the process of building play spaces for children with disabilities is a complex one.
